[HIKARU]
Ryoute de tsukutta bouenkyou kara harukana aozora nozoite miyouyo

Let’s look at the vast blue sky from the binoculars we make with our hands

Coin no kawari ni yume wo iretara hareta miraiga kukkiri mieruyo

If we put a dream instead of a coin, you can clearly see the sunny future

Shinjiru kimochiga asu wo tsukurukara ashita wa kyou yori zettai kagayaku

Tomorrow is made by the feelings you believe in, so tomorrow will
definitely shine more than today

Ichiban genki de niban ga yuuki yappari yaru ki ga jyuuhachiban

First is energy, second is courage. Will to do it is 18th after all

Makenai makenai zettai makenai issun saki wa hikari dayo!

Won’t lose, won’t lose, definititely won’t lose. Light is only an
inch away!

Tsuyoku yumemita koto wa itsunohika yume ja nakunaru

What you strongly dream of will someday be a dream no longer

Shinjiru kokoro chikara ni natte mahou ni kawaru

Your believing heart will become strength, and turn into magic

[FUU]
Hitori ja tokenai nazo ga attemo sannin yoreba kanarazu tokemasu

There may be mysteries you can’t solve alone, but if you get three
together it can always be solved

Hitori ja omotai heart no nimotsu mo minna de moteba karugaru motemasu

Burdens of the heart that is too heavy alone can be carried easily
if everyone carries it together

Nakitai toki wa han-kachi ni narushi ureshii toki wa issho ni utaaeru

I’ll be a handkerchief when you want to cry, and I can sing with you
when you are happy

Ichiban shinrai niban shinjitsu itsudemo shinken jyuuhachiban

First is trust, second is truth. Eighteenth is always being serious

Nakanai nakanai kesshite nakanai ashita wa yasashii kaze ga fuku!

Won’t cry, won’t cry I will never cry. Tomorrow, a kind wind will blow!

Onaji yume wo minna de wakeaeba hyakubai ni naru

If we all share the same dream, it will multiply hundredfold

Atsui kokoro wo awasetara hora kiseki mo okiru

If we combine our passionate hearts, see, miracles can happen too.

[UMI]
Unmei tokatte aruto iukedo mirai wa jibun de kaete yukeruwa

They say there’s things like fate, but you can change your own future

Watashitachi no yume sorega kagi nano power wo tabanete tobira wo oseba

Our dream, that is the key. Gather your powers, and push the door

Mugen no panorama hirogaru hazuyo ikiru-tte suteki na bouken dakara

And a panoramic infinity should spread because living is a wonderful
adventure

Ichiban wakuwaku niban ukiuki mezase tokimeki jyuuhachiban

First is excitement, second is cheerfullness. Heading for the
eighteenth – heart-throbbing

Ganbaru ganbaru gangan ganbaru atowa no to nare umi to nare!

Do my best, do my best, going ahead and doing my best. The rest can
go to the fields, to the sea!

Souyo minna mainichi kokoro goto umare kawatte

Yes, everyone is reincarnated every day from the bottom of their hearts

Original no drama wo tsukuruno modorenai Story

Making an original drama, a story that can’t go back

[HIKARU, UMI, FUU]

Tsuyoku yumemita koto wa itsunohika yume ja nakunaru

What you strongly dream of will someday be a dream no longer

Shinjiru kokoro chikara ni natte mahou ni kawaru

Your believing heart will become strength, and turn into magic

Yume wa kokoro ni kimeta sono toki ni kanai hajimeru

When you set your dream in your heart, that is the moment it starts
coming true

Shinjiru kokoro chikara ni natte mahou ni kawaru

Your believing heart will become strength, and turn into magic

Hikaru: Girls be ambitious! Shoujo yo, taishi wo idake!

Umi: Honto ni Hikaru-tte genki ne. Maa, watashi mo ganbaranakutcha!

Really, Hikaru is full of energy. Well, I have to do MY best too!

Fuu: Hikaru-san. Umi-san. Soredewa yukkuri isoide mairimashou.

Hikaru-san, Umi-san, let’s go, slowly but in a hurry.

Translator’s Footnotes:
“issun” is actually ~3.03cm.
“jyuuhachiban” literally means 18th (which is what I kept), but why it’s 18th is because “one’s eighteenth” is an old Japanese slang term for something you are really proficient at. However, in most modern cases you still *write* 18-ban but you *read* as “ohako”.

And I guess I should say something about the title. The original quote [from Japanese literature] is actually “SHOUNEN yo, taishi wo idake!” and the literal translation would be “embrace ambition” instead of “be ambitious”.
